About
Paul A. Harding is a Professor and Chair of the Biology department at Miami University. His research focuses on understanding the role of heparin-binding EGF-like growth factor (HB-EGF) in reprogramming cells into brown adipose tissue (BAT)-like phenotypes. He leads the Cell, Molecular and Structural Biology Graduate Program and is affiliated with the Center for Animal Behavior and Center for Neuroscience and Behavior. His work explores HB-EGF/ADAM12S interactions in metabolic regulation and therapeutic applications for obesity and diabetes.
Research interests include adipose tissue biology, cellular reprogramming mechanisms, and the molecular pathways governing energy expenditure. His lab uses adenoviral gene delivery systems to investigate BAT-like cell induction in human adipose tissue. Experimental plans include in vivo studies to validate cellular reprogramming efficacy.
No scientific awards are explicitly listed. Courses taught include Molecular Techniques (BIO 464), Human Physiology (BIO 161), and Advanced Biotechnology Applications (BSC 416). Current projects involve exploring FGF2 and Klf3's roles in HB-EGF-mediated stem-like state induction.
