Prof. Patrik Recher is a Professor (W3) in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics at TU Braunschweig, Germany, since 2011. He is affiliated with the Institute of Mathematical Physics within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, and Physics. His research focuses on quantum transport in low-dimensional systems and theoretical investigations of strongly correlated electron systems, with an emphasis on electronic structure and many-body quantum phenomena.
Recher earned his Diplom in Physics from the University of Basel (1999) and his PhD in Physics (2003) from the same institution. His career includes postdoctoral positions at the University of Basel, Stanford University (USA), the University of Leiden, and TU Delft (Netherlands), followed by roles as Senior Scientist at the University of Würzburg and Emmy Noether group leader before joining TU Braunschweig.
His research group explores topics such as non-Fermi liquid effects, cooperative phenomena in superconductivity and magnetism, and methodological advances in ab initio calculations. He collaborates closely with experimental groups to bridge theoretical models with material-specific properties.
Prof. Recher advises PhD students and has contributed to the academic community through teaching and mentoring. His team's work is integrated within TU Braunschweig’s broader research initiatives in condensed matter physics and mathematical physics.
