Patrick Rey is a Professor of Economics at the Toulouse School of Economics (TSE), where he previously led the Institut d’Économie Industrielle (IDEI). He holds a PhD and HDR from the University of Toulouse, an engineer degree from École Polytechnique, and a statistician-economist degree from ENSAE. His research focuses on Industrial Organization, Competition Policy, and the Digital Economy, with over 50 publications in top journals like Econometrica and the American Economic Review.
He has served as a senior member of IUF, testified in antitrust cases globally, and advised organizations including the OECD and European Commission. Rey co-founded the Association for Competition Economics (ACE) and coordinated key reports for EU competition policy.
His pedagogical contributions include market game-based tools. Awards include ERC grants and an honorary doctorate from the Norwegian School of Economics.
