About
Patrick Hussey is Professor and former Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Science) at Durham University's Department of Biosciences. His research investigates plant cytoskeleton dynamics, membrane contact sites, and autophagy mechanisms. He directs the Durham Centre for Bioimaging Technology, integrating advanced imaging with molecular biology to study cytoskeleton-membrane interactions. His work has revealed novel protein complexes regulating organelle communication and cellular organization.
Research focuses on: actin-microtubule networks, ER-PM contact sites, and mitophagy regulation. Recent publications highlight TraB proteins as key mitophagy receptors and NETWORKED proteins as cytoskeleton organizers.
Hussey serves on editorial boards (e.g., Current Biology) and international panels (BBSRC, ANR). He holds visiting professorships at Lisbon University, Huazhong Agricultural University, and Charles University.
