Patrick Bayer is the Gilhuly Family Distinguished Professor of Economics at Duke University, affiliated with Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University (1999) and a B.A. in Mathematics from Princeton (1994). His research focuses on racial inequality, housing markets, criminal justice, and urban economics. Recent work includes examining jury representation biases, housing segregation, and the long-term effects of the Great Recession on homeownership. He has received awards such as the Economic Inquiry Best Article Award (2010) and serves as a Researcher at NBER since 2004.
