Patricia Bruininks is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Whitworth University since 2007. Her research focuses on emotion and decision-making, positive psychology, and the psychology of poverty and consumerism. She holds a Ph.D., M.S., and B.A. from the University of Oregon, Hope College, respectively.
Her work explores distinctions between hope and optimism, the psychological impacts of consumerism, and the intersection of spirituality with mental health. Awards include twice being named Whitworth's Most Influential Professor and a Lilly Summer Fellowship.
