Pascal Marty

Pascal Marty serves as a University Professor in the Department of Geography at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, affiliated with the French National Council of Universities (CNU) Section 23 for Geography.

His research specializes in Environmental Geography with critical focus on Global Environmental Changes, Biodiversity-Territory interactions, and Dynamics of Forest Areas and Landscapes. Fieldwork spans Mediterranean, Sahara, and Sahel regions—including Touat Gourara Tidikelt (Algeria), Djerid (Tunisia), Tassili n'Ajjer/Hoggar massifs (Algeria), and Aïr/Adrar des Ifoghas (Niger/Mali)—examining socio-ecological systems in arid environments.

Professor Marty coordinates major research initiatives including the ongoing ERC Advanced Grant project on North African political change (since 2017), the ANR/TRANSMED ALMIRA project (2014-2018), and Tunisian socio-spatial inequality studies (2013-2017).
