Pascal Marchand is a Professor of Organic Chemistry and Head of the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at Université de Nantes. He holds positions as Vice-Dean for Research at the School of Pharmacy and Deputy Director of UR 1155 - IICiMed (Institut de Recherche en Santé). His academic career includes promotions to 1st class (2016) and exceptional class 1 (2022) in the 86th section of Drug Sciences. He earned his PhD in 1999 on indole derivatives for immunosuppressive and anticancer applications.
Research Focus: Design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of heterocyclic compounds targeting mycology, parasitology, bacteriology, and cancer. Key areas include kinase inhibitors, ADMET properties, and drug discovery for leishmaniasis, candidiasis, and fungal resistance. His work is supported by grants like ANR TEXLEISH (2021–2025) focusing on host-parasite interactions.
Collaborations: International partnerships with institutions in Brazil (UFPE, UEPB), Senegal (Assane Seck University), Turkey (Ege University), Canada (University of Toronto), and Ireland (University College Cork). He leads networks like the Franco-Brazilian FB2NP and chairs the European GP2A MedChem network.
