Parag Bhargava is a Professor in the Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay). He has been a faculty member since 1998, progressing from Assistant Professor to full Professor in 2009, and continues to lead an active research program in materials science and engineering.
His research interests include powder processing, rheology of inks and pastes, synthesis of weakly agglomerated nanoparticles, dental materials, glasses and glass ceramics, silver pastes, screen-printed sensors, and scaling-up for product development. He has made significant contributions in ceramics, composites, and energy materials, with a strong emphasis on translational and commercializable technologies.
The recent publications highlight his work in hybrid perovskite solar cells, lightweight thermal insulators, graphene-based electrodes, alumina fiber synthesis, and ceramic-carbon composites. His research spans energy conversion, sustainable materials, additive manufacturing, and biomedical applications, showing a multidisciplinary approach to materials innovation.

Prof. Bhargava has advised numerous students and researchers, as evidenced by his co-authored publications and ongoing PhD positions in his lab. He co-founded ANTS Ceramics Pvt. Ltd., highlighting his success in technology transfer and commercialization. He has secured research funding for scaling up and product development, particularly in ceramics and composites. His lab, the Processing and Materials Laboratory (PML), focuses on innovative processing routes for advanced materials.
Labs and Teams: He leads the Processing and Materials Laboratory (PML) at IIT Bombay, which works on cutting-edge materials synthesis and processing techniques. The lab actively recruits PhD and postdoctoral researchers, particularly in glasses, glass synthesis, metal-ceramic composites, and scalable manufacturing.
