About
Paolo Ceppi is an Associate Professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark, where he leads the Paolo Ceppi Lab within the Translational Biology research section. He holds a PhD from the University of Torino and completed postdoctoral research at Northwestern University. Previously, he served as a Junior Group Leader at FAU University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
His research focuses on cancer biology, particularly the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer cell plasticity, aggressiveness, metabolism, epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and drug resistance. His lab integrates cell and molecular biology, mouse models, high-throughput screening, and human tissue analysis to uncover novel pathways regulating tumor progression. A key interest is the role of metabolism genes in cancer differentiation and chemotherapy sensitivity, aiming to develop more effective therapeutic strategies.
His recent publications (2021–2025) reveal a strong trend in lung and pancreatic cancer metabolism, with emphasis on polyol pathway, mitochondrial function, heat-shock proteins, and EMT regulation. His work explores metabolic vulnerabilities and repurposed inhibitors as novel treatments. He has secured funding from major agencies including the Novo Nordisk Foundation, Danish Cancer Society, Danish Independent Research Fund, German Research Foundation, and the U.S. Department of Defense.
Scientific Awards:
- Young Investigator Award, International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (2017)
He actively mentors junior researchers and has co-published extensively with team members such as V. Ramesh, P. N. Gollavilli, and M. A. Siddiqui. He is not indicated as part-time, retired, or former staff, and is presumed alive.
Laboratory and Team: The Paolo Ceppi Lab is embedded in the Translational Biology section at SDU, fostering interdisciplinary research with a focus on bridging molecular discoveries to clinical applications in oncology.
