Padmini Parthasarathy

Padmini Parthasarathy is a Lecturer in the Department of Journalism at San Francisco State University. She is a Bay Area-based print and audio journalist specializing in the intersections of gender, identity, labor, and urban space. Her notable work includes an investigation into the Disneyfication of New Orleans' French Quarter. Her print articles have appeared in outlets such as Bitch Magazine, Jezebel, Next City, Zora Magazine, Outside Magazine, The Times of India, and Huffington Post. Her audio work has been featured on KALX radio, iPondr, and Americans in Paris (a podcast of the American Scholar).

Her research interests focus on cultural critique, spatial politics, and the representation of marginalized communities through journalism. She combines print and audio mediums to explore how identity and labor dynamics shape urban environments.

Padmini holds office hours Monday-Thursday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with remote availability on Fridays, located in the Humanities Building, Room 305.
