Paco Garcia-Gonzalez is an Associate Professor at the School of Biological Sciences, The University of Western Australia (UWA) and an Adjunct Research Fellow at the Centre for Evolutionary Biology (CEB, UWA). He is also a Senior Research Scientist (Cientifico Titular) at Estación Biológica de Doñana (EBD-CSIC), Spain. Previously, he held a Ramon y Cajal fellowship and Investigador Distinguido position at EBD-CSIC. His research focuses on evolutionary ecology of sexual interactions, including sexual selection, sexual conflict, and polyandry. Key areas include male-female adaptations, risk-spreading in mating strategies, and transgenerational effects on offspring.
He has led over 15 research projects, supervised numerous PhD/postdoctoral researchers, and published over 80 peer-reviewed articles in top journals like Evolution, Current Biology, and Nature Communications. He serves as an editor for Behavioral Ecology, Journal of Ethology, and Frontiers in Ecology and Evolution.
His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals through evolutionary insights into biodiversity and ecological processes.
