About
Professor Oren Tzfadia is Senior Researcher in Computational Biology at the Institute of Tropical Medicine and University of Antwerp. His research integrates multi-omics approaches to address Mycobacterium tuberculosis drug resistance, developing bioinformatics tools for clinical applications.
Methodological Innovations: Created computational resources including MORPH (metabolic pathway prediction), CoExpNetViz (co-expression networks), and Cedalion (genome interpretation platform). These tools enable high-throughput identification of regulatory networks and potential drug targets.
Therapeutic Focus: Current projects apply structural biology and AI to identify critical regions in Mtb proteins for therapeutic intervention. Recent work characterizes bedaquiline resistance mechanisms and ESX-1 virulence factors.
Teaching: Develops courses in systems biology, protein structural analysis, and NGS pipelines. Supervises PhD candidates in computational mycobacteriology.
