Opher Baron

Opher Baron is a Professor at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, specializing in Operations Management and Statistics. He has held visiting roles at the Technion (2009/10) and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (2016/17), and served as Academic Director for the MMA Program (2021–2023) and Area Coordinator for Operations Management and Statistics (2015–2021).

Education:

• PhD in Operations Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
• MBA and BSc in Industrial Engineering and Management, Technion

Research Interests span service operations (including healthcare), business analytics, queueing theory, revenue management, autonomous vehicles, supply chain optimization, and international business. His work bridges theoretical modeling and practical applications, notably addressing real-world challenges in healthcare and pandemic response.

He co-created the covidppehelp.ca platform, which facilitated millions of PPE items during the pandemic. Baron is actively engaged in the operations research community, serving on editorial boards and organizing academic conferences.
