About
Ondřej Daniel is a Research Fellow at the University of Vienna's Research Platform for the Study of Transformations and Eastern Europe. His work focuses on cultural history, particularly postsocialist contexts in Czech and broader European settings. Current research explores class distinctions through cultural capital frameworks, analyzing rural/urban divides and regional disparities in East Central Europe.
Key research interests include popular culture dynamics, migration narratives, and the interplay between social class and cultural identity. His projects critically examine how historical state socialism's legacy influences contemporary societal markers of inequality.
Notable publications include edited volumes on Czech subcultures and analyses of media representations of migration issues. Recent work investigates hardbass music's reflection of working-class cultural mimicry in Eastern Europe.
