Omar Galárraga is a tenured Professor of Health Services, Policy and Practice at Brown University School of Public Health and Director of the Center for Global Public Health (CGPH). He also serves on committees including the Population Studies & Training Center (PSTC), Center for Latin American Studies (CLACS), and Data Science Institute (DSI), and is a Faculty Fellow at the Watson Institute for International & Public Affairs. His PhD in Health Economics is from Johns Hopkins University (2007).
Research focuses on HIV treatment/prevention, health systems, and economic interventions. He evaluates programs like microfinance integration with HIV care in Kenya, prescription cap impacts on Medicaid patients, and financial incentives for exercise. He leads 3 NIH-funded R01 projects and has published over 140 articles in health economics and public health journals.
