Oluwakemi Balogun

Oluwakemi Balogun is an Associate Professor at the University of Oregon, affiliated with the School of Global Studies and Languages and the departments of African Studies, Black Studies, Sociology, and Women's Gender and Sexuality Studies. She serves as Director of African Studies and specializes in research areas including globalization, nationalism, race/ethnicity, and migration.

Her scholarly work has been published in outlets like African Studies Review, Gender & Society, and Ohio University Press, with a focus on the interplay of gender, embodiment, and cultural representation in Nigerian beauty pageants, transnational migration, and postcolonial identity. She joined the University of Oregon faculty in 2013.
