Oluremi Onifade

Dr. Oluremi Onifade is a laboratory instructor in the Environmental and Health Sciences Department at Spelman College, Atlanta, GA. She earned a Biology degree from Spelman, a Master’s in Kinesiology from Auburn University, and a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Emory University. Her career spans education, clinical practice, and advocacy for diversity in allied health fields.

Dr. Onifade co-founded the National Association of Black Physical Therapists (NABPT), which now has over 300 members and focuses on increasing representation of the African Diaspora in physical therapy while uplifting Black communities. She previously contributed to a bridge program between Spelman and Auburn University to support students pursuing allied health careers.

Her research and professional interests center on physical therapy education, health sciences, and community health initiatives. She also works as a clinic director and minority partner in an outpatient physical therapy clinic in Ellenwood, GA, specializing in neurological rehabilitation.

Dr. Onifade’s advocacy and leadership in fostering diversity in healthcare align with her roles in education and clinical practice, emphasizing the recruitment and support of underrepresented groups in allied health professions.
