Oliver Hanemann is Professor and Chair in Clinical Neurobiology at Manchester Metropolitan University's Peninsula Medical School and Neurology Consultant at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. His research bridges clinical and basic neuroscience with focus on brain tumours, Parkinson's disease mechanisms, and neuroimaging applications.
Research encompasses:
- Molecular pathways in meningioma and schwannoma
- Neurodegenerative disease mechanisms
- Clinical applications of neuroimaging
Recent publications highlight therapeutic targeting of tumour microenvironments and symptom management in motor neuron diseases. Current work includes developing novel therapeutic approaches for NF2-related tumours.
Directs the Brain Tumour Centre of Excellence with approximately 30 researchers. Previously served as Associate Dean for Research (2015-2017) and Institute Director for Translational Medicine.
