Prof. Dr. Oliver G. Schmidt is the Scientific Director at the Research Center for Materials, Architectures and Integration of Nanomembranes (MAIN) and Professor for Material Systems of Nanoelectronics at Chemnitz University of Technology. His groundbreaking research focuses on fundamental physical and chemical properties of flexible nanostructured membranes and their engineering applications.
Professor Schmidt has received prestigious awards including the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize (2018) and ERC Advanced Grant (2019). His research group has developed innovative technologies such as magnetic springs, microelectronic catheters, and the world's smallest battery. He serves on the Senate Committee and Grants Committee of the German Research Foundation (DFG).
