About
Dr. Ole Kemi is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow's School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Health. His interdisciplinary research focuses on the effects of exercise and exercise training on cardiovascular physiology, employing experimental models and human studies to investigate cellular mechanisms in health and disease. He holds a BSc in Medicine and Sports Science from the University of Tromsø, an MSc from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and a PhD in Molecular Medicine.
His research integrates sports science, molecular medicine, and physiology to explore:
- Intensity-dependent benefits of exercise in cardiac recovery and adaptation
- Cellular determinants of cardiovascular performance using advanced microscopy and biochemical assays
- Performance optimization in elite athletes and clinical populations
- Physiological adaptations in rock climbing and mountaineering
He teaches cellular physiology, exercise biology, and sports science across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, while supervising research students in projects spanning from lactate metabolism to climbing biomechanics. His laboratory employs physiological measurements, molecular assays, and performance testing to advance understanding of human physical capacity.
