Ole-Andreas Rognstad

Ole-Andreas Rognstad is a Professor at the Department of Private Law, Faculty of Law, University of Oslo, a position he has held since 2002. He previously served as Director of the Department from 2008 to 2012 and as Deputy Director from 2004 to 2008. His academic career at the University of Oslo began as a Research Fellow at the Centre for European Law from 1992 to 1999, followed by a position as Assistant Professor from 2001 to 2002.

Professor Rognstad's research focuses on several key areas of law:

• Industrial property law
• EU/EEA law
• Competition law
• Legal methodology

Rognstad has established himself as a leading authority in intellectual property law through his extensive professional service. He has served as Chairman of the Norwegian Copyright Remuneration Tribunal since 2003 and is a member of the European Copyright Society, an academic independent expert group by invitation only. His editorial work includes serving as Norwegian editor of Scandinavian Studies of Law since 2002.

His professional contributions span multiple governmental bodies, including the Norwegian Patent Office Board of Appeals (2001-2013), the Norwegian Market Council for Consumer Affairs (2005-2009), and various committees investigating plagiarism in both popular history books and scientific research. Internationally, he has held research positions at the Max Planck Institute for Competition and IP Law in Munich and the University of San Diego Law School.
