Dr. Ofir Hadad is a Research Fellow at the Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace and a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Political Science at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His research focuses on law and politics, national security, and violent conflicts, with expertise in judicial framing, immigration policy, and the politics of place naming in divided cities like Jerusalem.
Education: PhD in Political Science (Hebrew University of Jerusalem), MA (magna cum laude) in Political Science, LL.B. (magna cum laude) in Law, all from the Hebrew University. Completed the interdisciplinary Amirim Honors Program.
Research Interests: Explores intersections between legal systems and state security, particularly in contexts of ethnonational conflict. Recent work examines toponymy in divided cities and judicial intervention in immigration policies toward Palestinian informants.
Selected Awards: President of Israel Scholarship, BFHU Scholarship, ISEF Fellowship, and American Friends of Yitzhak Rabin Fund Fellowship.
Teaching & Outreach: Academic coordinator for first-generation students at the Unit for Diversity and Inclusion. Co-founded the master's program 'Law, Governance & Society' bridging Political Science and Law faculties.
Media Engagements: Analytical writings on the 2023 Israel-Hamas war symbolism, Hamas’s naming of IDF operations, and marginalized Palestinian communities in Israel.
