Odul Bozkurt

Dr Odul Bozkurt is an Associated Academic at the Sussex Asia Centre, University of Sussex. Her research focuses on the sociology of work and employment in Japan, particularly examining HR practices of foreign employers and their impact on traditional Japanese workplace norms.

She currently leads a survey study with a major foreign retailer in Japan, analyzing the effects of abolishing pay and contract disparities between regular and non-regular workers. Her work highlights how foreign firms may challenge or reinforce existing gender constraints in managerial careers within Japanese corporate environments.
