ONG Cheng Huat

ONG Cheng Huat is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at National University of Singapore (NUS), holding a joint appointment through the DSO-NUS Agreement since October 2019. He works 1 day/week at NUS while serving as Lab Director of DSO National Laboratories' Structural Materials Lab. He obtained his PhD from Stanford University in 2000.

His research focuses on advanced composite materials for defense applications, including manufacturing techniques, material characterization, structural design, damage analysis, NDT methods, and functional architected materials. He leads development of polymeric composites for structural applications and manages experimental/modeling studies on composite durability under static/dynamic loads.

Labs/Teams: Directs the Structural Materials Lab at DSO National Laboratories, coordinating interdisciplinary teams to innovate composite solutions for defense needs.
