Nydia Remolina Leon is an Assistant Professor of Law and Deputy Director of the Centre for Commercial Law in Asia (CCLA) at Singapore Management University's Yong Pung How School of Law. She holds a Ph.D. in Law (candidate) from the University of Zurich, a J.S.M. from Stanford University, and a Bachelor of Laws from Pontifical Javeriana University. Her research focuses on banking law, fintech, AI/data governance, and sustainable finance. She has held leadership roles in industry relations at SMU's AI and Data Governance Centre and has extensive experience in Latin American financial regulation as a legal advisor at Bancolombia and a lecturer at University of Los Andes and Pontifical Javeriana University.
Her research explores regulatory challenges in AI-driven financial systems, decentralized finance (DeFi), and open finance frameworks. Recent work addresses interconnectedness risks in AI-powered financial systems and cross-border regulatory strategies for fintech innovations. She contributes to global policy dialogues through memberships in the OECD, the European Corporate Governance Institute, and editorial roles with journals like Data & Policy.
