Nuria Oliver is the Director of the ELLIS Alicante Foundation and an Honorary Professor at the University of Alicante. She holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from MIT and has held leadership roles at Microsoft Research, Telefónica I+D (2007-2016), and Vodafone (2017-2019). As a scientific advisor to institutions like the Vodafone Institute and the Valencian Government’s AI Commission, she focuses on leveraging AI for social good.
Her research explores computational modeling of human behavior, human-computer interaction, and big data analysis. She has over 180 publications cited 21,000+ times, with 11 papers winning or being nominated for best paper awards. Her work during the pandemic included creating a large-scale citizen survey (700k+ responses) and co-leading the ValenciaIA4COVID team that won the $500k XPRIZE Pandemic Response Challenge.
