Norbert Hort

Prof. Dr. Ing. Norbert Hort is a faculty member at Leuphana Institute for Production Engineering and Systems (IPTS) and serves as Head of the Functional Magnesium Materials (MBF) department at Helmholtz Zentrum Hereon. His work focuses on advanced manufacturing technologies and material engineering.

• Current research includes 5G-enabled process optimization (EVOLVE5G), sensor fusion for industrial safety (SEFLI), and AI-driven forming parameter analysis (OptimUm).
• Key projects involve magnesium nanocomposites (OptUm-MagNa), additive manufacturing of extrusion dies, and boundary layer property adjustment in aluminum composites.

He leads the subproject on sustainable production within TrICo (Transformation through Innovation and Cooperation) and has contributed to technical developments like the 10 MN extrusion press qualification.
