Nora Charles

Nora Charles is an Associate Professor at the University of Southern Mississippi and a licensed psychologist. She is a core faculty member in the Clinical Psychology PhD program.

• BA in Psychology from Northwestern University
• PhD in Clinical Psychology from Texas A&M University (2011)
• Postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas School of Medicine

Her research focuses on child and adolescent emotional and behavioral problems, particularly substance misuse, delinquency, and contributing factors like parenting, impulsivity, emotion regulation, and environmental stressors. She frequently mentors undergraduate and graduate students and supervises student clinicians.

Recent publications analyze psychometric characteristics of assessment tools, impulsivity, and environmental stressors in clinical and legal contexts for at-risk youth. Her work has appeared in journals like Journal of Personality Assessment and Psychological Assessment.
