Nishant Kumar is an Associate Professor at Stockholm Business School, Stockholm University, and serves as head of the Nordic-India Business Research Forum. He previously served as Programme Director for the MSc Marketing programme from January 2018 to July 2021.
Dr. Kumar's research focuses on international business strategy and sustainability, with specific investigations into the emergence and growth of international new ventures, internationalization of emerging market firms, transparency, trust and legitimacy in markets, managing political risks in international business, and sustainability issues. His current research explores how firms build and shape sustainability narratives through interactions with different market actors to gain legitimacy for environmentally friendly and socially equitable products and services.
He is an active member of the DIISS (Digitalization, Innovation, Internationalization, Sustainability, and Service) research group based in the Marketing section at Stockholm Business School. His research has received support from MIT Research School, MTC Research Foundation, Forum for Asian Studies, and the Swedish Retail and Wholesale Development Council.
Dr. Kumar has published in prestigious journals including International Marketing Review, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing, Journal of International Entrepreneurship, Advances in International Marketing, International Business Review, and Critical Perspectives on International Business.
He serves on editorial boards for the Journal of Business & Industrial Marketing and the Journal of Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies, and is an editorial advisory board member for the Journal of Institute of Public Enterprise. Dr. Kumar has organized significant academic events including the Inaugural Nordic-India Business Research Conference 2018, SBS Emerging Market Research Workshop 2017, and co-chaired the 22nd CBIM International Conference 2017. He has delivered lectures at business schools across China, Finland, France, India, Japan, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, and Thailand.
