Nirav Mehta is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Western Ontario. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania (2011) and specializes in empirical microeconomics with applications to public policy, health economics, and education.
His research interests include:
- Empirical analysis of education systems and teacher incentives
- Health care payment models and physician behavior
- Structural estimation of economic behaviors
- Public economics and policy evaluation
- Social interactions in educational settings
Mehta's recent publications examine healthcare payment reforms in Ontario, the economics of primary care delivery, teacher incentive structures, and family policy impacts. His methodological work develops innovative approaches to identifying causal relationships in human capital development and healthcare systems.
He teaches courses in Public Finance, Applied Econometrics, and Public Economics at both undergraduate and graduate levels. His research has been published in leading journals including American Economic Review, Journal of Labor Economics, and Journal of Human Resources.
