Nima Khakzad

Nima Khakzad is an Associate Professor at Toronto Metropolitan University, affiliated with the School of Occupational and Public Health within the Faculty of Community Services. He holds a PhD in oil and gas engineering and is a Professional Engineer (PEng). His research focuses on safety assessment and management of petrochemical facilities, particularly addressing domino effects, natural-technological accidents, and terrorist threats. Prior to his current role (since 2019), he was with the Faculty of Technology, Policy, and Management at Delft University of Technology (2015–2019).

Dr. Khakzad serves on the editorial boards of Safety Science and the Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries. His expertise spans system reliability, risk optimization, and Bayesian network applications. He is available to supervise Occupational and Public Health (MSc) students from 2025–2026.
