Nima Dahir

Nima Dahir is an Assistant Professor and Provost's Fellow in the Department of Sociology at The Ohio State University. Her work focuses on the intersection of race, immigration, and urban sociology, particularly how Black immigrants shape neighborhoods and redefine Blackness in America.

Education: PhD & MA in Sociology (Stanford University, 2024/2020), BA in Mathematics & Economics (Ohio State University, 2016). A Columbus native, she explores spatial inequality through lenses of property ownership, surveillance, and neighborhood change.

Research highlights include analyzing ethnoracial disparities in property ownership, the impact of Black immigrants on urban landscapes, and the role of virtual spaces in diasporic identity. Her work is supported by grants from AERA, NSF, and the Knight-Hennessy Scholarship.

Publications span journals like the Russell Sage Foundation Journal of the Social Sciences, City & Community, and Socius. She actively engages with methodological advancements in sociological research.
