Dr. Nikos J Mourtos is a Professor and Chair of the Aerospace Engineering department at San José State University (SJSU), College of Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering from Stanford University (1987), with prior academic credentials from Stanford and the University of Patras, Greece.
His academic roles include leadership in educational assessment and program accreditation, serving as ABET Program Evaluator and designing assessment frameworks for SJSU's Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering programs. He has pioneered workshops on active learning, cooperative learning, and instructional design for faculty globally, including Sultan Qaboos University and King Abdul Aziz University.
Research interests span aerospace engineering (aerodynamics, propulsion, aircraft design), mechanical engineering (fluid mechanics, thermodynamics), and pedagogical innovation.
