Nikolay M. Filipov is a Professor and Interdisciplinary Toxicology Program Director at the University of Georgia's College of Veterinary Medicine. He earned his PhD in 1998 from the University of Georgia. His research focuses on neurotoxicology, neuroimmunology, and the role of environmental toxicants in basal ganglia disorders like Parkinson’s disease. His lab uses molecular biology, cell culture, and rodent behavioral studies to investigate these areas.
Filipov teaches courses including Veterinary Toxicology and co-leads the Neurophysiology program. His research has explored fescue toxicosis in livestock, manganese neurotoxicity, and Gulf War Illness models. He collaborates in the University of Georgia’s Toxicology and Neuroscience Programs.
Recent work includes studies on bovine fescue toxicosis using interactomics and behavioral alterations in grazing cattle. His publications span environmental toxicology, neuroimmunology, and veterinary pharmacology.
