Dr. Nikki Rousseau is a University Academic Fellow based in the Surgical, Diagnostic and Devices Division at the Leeds Institute of Clinical Trials Research (LICTR) and a member of LUCID (Leeds Unit for Complex Intervention Development). She specializes in qualitative and mixed-methods research, focusing on health care technology development and evaluation. Her work addresses patient and health professional experiences in healthcare and new technologies.
Dr. Rousseau is a co-applicant on several National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Health Technology Assessment (HTA)-funded trials, including LiTEFORM (Oral Mucositis Trial), NAIROS (Nasal Airway Obstruction Study), and NATTINA (Tonsillectomy in Adults Trial). She serves as an associate editor for BMC Trials.
Her research interests include clinical trials, process evaluation, and systematic reviews, with applications in primary care, dentistry, and surgery. She has contributed to BBC Radio 4's Thinking Allowed discussing tooth loss experiences and presented on complex intervention design via the INDEX study.
Dr. Rousseau has supervised three PhD students to completion and teaches qualitative methods, research design, and grant writing at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She is affiliated with the Leeds Institute of Health Sciences and collaborates with the Division of Primary Care, Palliative Care, and Public Health.
