Nigel Mason

Professor Nigel Mason is a Professor of Molecular Physics at the University of Kent's School of Physics and Astronomy. He holds a prestigious OBE and previously held a Royal Society University Research Fellowship (1990-1998). His research focuses on molecular physics, encompassing astrochemistry, astrophysics, environmental science, plasma physics, and radiation therapy. He leads international initiatives like the Europlanet Society and coordinates the Europlanet 2024 Research Infrastructure.

His career began at University College London (UCL), where he pioneered studies on electron-photon interactions and ice surface chemistry's role in ozone depletion. He later joined the Open University, contributing to planetary science and astrochemistry. Current research includes irradiation effects on biomolecules and next-generation radiotherapy using nanoparticles.
