Nigel Coton is a Lecturer in BA (Hons) Illustration at the University of Portsmouth. His professional practice spans collaborations with high-profile clients in publishing, marketing, and advertising, including Vodafone, Wrigleys, and Legoland. His research focuses on childhood narratives, exploring sensory engagement in children’s books through deconstructed fables and myths. This work bridges traditional and digital illustration techniques under self-imposed creative constraints.
His research interests include narrative design, visual communication, and the sociocultural dimensions of childhood. Notable commercial projects include campaigns for London Underground, Tixylix, and the National Army Museum.
