Nicole Sheriko

Nicole Sheriko is an Assistant Professor of English at Yale University. Her research focuses on Renaissance performance culture, encompassing theater history, art history, and material culture. She investigates object performance, puppetry, and the interactivity of early English drama, with a focus on questions like 'How does theater work?' and 'Why do people play?'

Her current projects include a book on early English puppetry's interactivity and a volume on Early European Puppetry Studies. She has held the A.H. Lloyd Junior Research Fellowship at Christ’s College, University of Cambridge, supported by the British Academy. Her work appears in journals like Shakespeare Quarterly and Studies in English Literature, and she has received grants from the Mellon Foundation, ACLS, and major libraries like Folger Shakespeare and the Huntington.

Her research also explores animal performance, dragons in performance, and clowning, which will form her next book project. Awards for her essays include recognition from the American Society for Theater Research and UNIMA-USA.
