Nicole Nemeth

Nicole Nemeth is an Associate Professor and Head of the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study (SCWDS) Diagnostic Service at the University of Georgia's College of Veterinary Medicine. She holds a DVM from Colorado State University and a PhD in Microbiology, Immunology & Pathology. Her expertise spans wildlife pathology and population health, with a focus on disease management in free-ranging wildlife.

Research focuses on wildlife disease dynamics, including West Nile virus in raptors, lymphoproliferative disease in wild turkeys, and ophidiomyces in snakes. She investigates pathogen transmission, tissue tropism, and diagnostic methodologies to inform conservation strategies. Current species interests include cervids, raptors, gamebirds, and snakes.

Active in professional networks including The Wildlife Society, Wildlife Disease Association, and American Association of Wildlife Veterinarians. Served as faculty advisor for Zoo, Exotics and Wildlife Club (2016-2018) and editorial consultant for Physicians’ Information and Education Resource. Teaches Wildlife Population Health Externship (POPH 5410).
