Nicole Lees

Nicole Lees is a Lecturer in the School of Justice at the University of Cumbria. Prior to academia, she served as a Police Detective Sergeant with expertise in leading investigations into serious crimes, including modern slavery and human trafficking. Her research focuses on safeguarding and exploitation issues. She teaches modules such as Managing Criminal Enquiries and Investigative Interviewing, emphasizing practical skills alongside theoretical knowledge.

Her Security, Intelligence and Investigation degree program integrates insights from the Criminal Justice System through experiential faculty backgrounds. Notable collaborations include partnerships with organizations like Sellafield, National Trust for Scotland (NTS), Cumbria Constabulary, and the Cumbria NHS Consortium (CNC). She actively fosters industry connections to enhance student opportunities.

Nicole highlights the program’s unique strength in providing guest inputs from industry professionals, urging students to maximize these interactions. Beyond academia, she is a qualified radio broadcaster with previous hosting experience.
