Nicolas MONTEIX

Nicolas MONTEIX is a Lecturer in Roman History and Archaeology at the University of Rouen, with the Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) from the University of Nantes (2025). He holds a PhD from Aix-Marseille University (2006) and was a member of the École française de Rome (2007-2010). He is a Junior Member of the Institut Universitaire de France (2015).

His research focuses on Roman urban production systems, food in Roman cities, and excavation archive analysis. He coordinates international relations for the History Department and oversees archaeological projects such as the 'Pistrina' study on Roman bakeries and experiments in technical history.

Key publications include works on Pompeii's workshops, Herculaneum's excavation archives, and experimental archaeology. His awards include the Institut Universitaire de France fellowship.
