Nicolas Laurand is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Photonics, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland. He leads the Colloidal Photonic Materials and Devices team, focusing on collaborative research in photonics and enabling technologies for healthcare, optical communications, and sustainable development. His work integrates nanotechnology and life sciences to advance photonic devices and materials.
Education includes a PhD in Long-Wavelength Dilute-Nitride Vertical-Cavity Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers (University of Strathclyde, 2006), a Master of Engineering (Université de Rennes I, 2000), and studies at Université de Bretagne Occidentale (1995–1997).
