Nicola Rimella

Nicola Rimella is a Ph.D. candidate in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Politecnico di Torino, Department of Structural, Building and Geotechnical Engineering (DISEG), working through the 38th cycle (2022-2025). He serves as an External Collaborator for Internationalization, Cooperation, Alliances and Mobility (INCAM) and works as an External lecturer across multiple engineering programs.

His research interests focus on digital technologies in civil engineering:

• Building Information Modeling (BIM) applications in construction management
• Digital Twin technology for infrastructure monitoring
• Machine Learning for tunnel information model reconstruction
• Virtual and Augmented Reality in architectural design
• Digital preservation of cultural heritage

His recent publications reveal an interdisciplinary approach bridging civil engineering with computer science and humanistic perspectives. The research spans infrastructure modeling, educational technology, and metaverse applications, demonstrating how digital tools can enhance understanding of complex built environments.
