Nicola Edwards, Ph.D., is the Chemistry Department Chair and Associate Professor of Chemistry at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), joining in 2022. She holds a Ph.D. from The University of California, Los Angeles, and a B.A. from Rice University. Her research focuses on designing optical sensors using supramolecular and analytical chemistry to detect anions, cations, and small molecules, with applications in environmental, medicinal, and forensic fields. She teaches courses including Principles of Inorganic and Organic Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry.
Edwards previously served as an assistant professor at Penn State Scranton and an associate professor at Misericordia University. She is affiliated with the American Chemical Society and the Council on Undergraduate Research. Her work includes a highlighted article on a novel fluorescent sensor for anion detection.
