Professor Nick Maskell leads the Bristol Academic Respiratory Unit at the University of Bristol, focusing on translational research to improve patient-centered respiratory care. His work spans pleural disease, airways disease, interstitial lung disease, pneumonia, and biomarker discovery.

- Chair of Trustees for Mesothelioma UK
- Chief Investigator for AERATOR (urgent public health COVID-19 study)
- Established the Pleural Investigation Study biobank with 20,000 samples
