Dr. Jew specializes in archaeometric approaches to prehistoric maritime, coastal, and island societies, conducting fieldwork across Easter Island (Rapa Nui), the Aleutians, Oregon, California, Alaska, California's Channel Islands, Micronesia, and the Caribbean. His research centers on paleoenvironmental reconstructions and human-environment dynamics through stable isotopes, geochemistry, lithic analysis, chronometric dating, and quantitative methods.
