Nick Drofiak

Dr Nick Drofiak is a Lecturer in Histories and Theories of Architecture at the University of the West of England, working within the Department of Architecture and the Built Environment. His research explores the dynamic interplay between human and nonhuman communities, focusing on performative practices that shape place through intervention in landscapes, material culture, and sonic environments.

Key areas of expertise include Soviet and Post-Soviet Northern Asia, ethnobotany, critical ethnographies, acoustic epistemologies, and heritage relations. He employs interdisciplinary methodologies such as oral history, walking practices, and creative ethnographic interventions to investigate how collective memories, identities, and cultural policies influence environmental and territorial dynamics.
