Nick Ader

Nick Ader is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG), where he leads the Ader Lab focused on cellular compartmentalization mechanisms using Schizosaccharomyces pombe as a model organism.

Dr. Ader holds a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of Cambridge and dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Biochemistry from Villanova University. His educational background provides a robust foundation for investigating eukaryotic membrane dynamics.

The Ader Lab specializes in membrane remodeling and organelle biogenesis, with core research examining nuclear envelope restructuring during mitosis and plasma membrane formation in fungal meiosis. The team employs advanced methodologies including live-cell fluorescence microscopy, correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM), yeast genetics, and electron cryo-tomography to address fundamental questions about membrane construction, biogenesis coordination with cell cycles, and organelle maintenance.
