Nicholas Teh

Nicholas Teh is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame, where he also serves as Co-Director of the History and Philosophy of Science. His research bridges the conceptual challenges of modern physics with metaphysics and mathematics, focusing on foundational questions in quantum mechanics and quantum field theory.

Education:

• Ph.D. in History and Philosophy of Science, University of Cambridge (Trinity College)

Research Interests center on the philosophy of physics, particularly the mathematical and metaphysical underpinnings of gauge symmetry, spacetime theories, and quantum field theory. He explores the geometrical structures of quantum mechanics, interpretation of physical dualities (AdS/CFT, S-duality), and the application of category theory to physics. Broader interests include neo-Aristotelian metaphysics, theories of agency, and philosophical foundations of economics and finance.
